💨 Abstract
Nepal's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has uncovered a $20 million insurance scam involving fake rescues on Mount Everest and fraudulent hospital admissions. Ten people, including trekking company staff, helicopter operators, and hospital employees, have been arrested. The scheme involved fabricating rescue missions and presenting fraudulent documents to claim insurance funds. Foreign tourists experiencing health issues while hiking were targeted. The scam allegedly involved staging rescues and exaggerating symptoms of altitude sickness.
