In 2001, the author's daughter, Becky, had a seizure which was initially misdiagnosed as migraine. Over the next few years, Becky had several more seizures, but as they weren't regular, no further investigation was carried out. In 2004, Becky died from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
