💨 Abstract
Despite a 5.9 magnitude earthquake near Crete, Greece's largest island, no injuries or serious damage were reported. The earthquake, which occurred near Karpathos, prompted a tsunami warning from Greece’s Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, advising coastal residents to move to higher ground. Greek seismologist Efthymis Lekkas stated that the quake was an isolated event, unrelated to recent seismic activity in Santorini or Turkey.
