💨 Abstract
Jay McGinty attempted to steal £190,000 worth of jewels from Claridge’s hotel in London by deploying smoke grenades to obstruct the security staff and using a sledgehammer to smash the display case. Hotel security staff confronted him and prevented his escape until the police arrived. McGinty pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and was sentenced to six years in prison.
