💨 Abstract

A teacher, Sam Applegarth, 31, died by suicide in Dubai after switching to an unlicensed drug, dutasteride, to treat hair loss. He had previously used minoxidil and finasteride without issues. The inquest revealed that dutasteride, though off-label for hair loss, shares similar side effects with finasteride, but suicidal ideation has not been widely reported for dutasteride.
