💨 Abstract
The developers of Mario Kart World opted not to include characters from other popular Nintendo franchises, like Link and Isabelle, focusing instead on minor Mario characters. In an interview, producer Kosuke Yabuki stated that adding characters from other games would be "incongruous" and unnecessary given the rich Mario universe. The team aimed to surprise players with new drivers, and the reception was positively unexpected. Although open to new tracks, future crossovers remain uncertain.
