💨 Abstract

Campaigners in Crystal Palace are fighting to rebuild the historic Mitre pub, demolished due to structural issues. The pub, built in 1867, was set to be converted into flats while retaining a ground-floor pub, but plans halted when the building was deemed unsafe. Residents demand that the pub be rebuilt brick by brick, the neighbouring pharmacy reopened, and compensation paid by the developers. Nearby shops and homes were evacuated.
