💨 Abstract

A bright fireball was seen streaking across the sky in several southern U.S. states, prompting numerous reports and some damage. The object, potentially a meteor, crashed through a roof in Georgia. More than 100 reports were submitted to the American Meteor Society, with descriptions of a sudden, bright flash. The National Weather Service is investigating, but the USGS did not detect an earthquake. The incident echoes a smaller, similar event near Minnesota.
