💨 Abstract
Gisèle Pelicot, a 72-year-old woman, was awarded France’s highest civilian honor for her bravery during a public rape and sexual assault trial against her ex-husband and 50 other men. She chose to waive her anonymity to expose her attackers and to stand in solidarity with other victims of sexual crimes. Her courage gained international attention and sparked protests against sexual violence.
