💨 Abstract
Wimbledon is replacing line judges with electronic line calling (ELC) technology starting from 2025. This decision, made after extensive testing and consultation, aims to enhance accuracy in officiating. The technology, already used in other major tournaments, tracks the ball's trajectory using cameras and sensors. While some players and officials acknowledge the inevitability of this change, concerns about the system's accuracy and audibility in noisy matches have been raised.
