💨 Abstract
UK supermarkets Tesco and Waitrose are trialing US-style plastic trolleys, which are lighter, quieter, and potentially less appealing to thieves compared to traditional metal ones. While some customers appreciate the modern design and cost savings, others are skeptical about durability and appearance. Tesco declined to comment on future plans, but Waitrose stated it has no plans for a wider roll-out from the current trial at the Brent Cross branch.
