💨 Abstract
Vladimir Putin bears responsibility for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014, according to investigative journalist Eliot Higgins. The plane was shot down by Russian proxy forces, killing all 298 people onboard. Three individuals were sentenced to life in prison, but remain at large as Russia refuses to surrender them. Higgins noted that Putin allowed the transfer of heavy weapon systems into Ukraine, facilitating the broader conflict.
