Venus Williams, at 45, became the second-oldest woman to win a WTA Tour-level singles match, defeating Peyton Stearns 6-3 6-4 at the Washington Open. It was her first singles match in 16 months, after undergoing surgery for uterine fibroids. Williams emphasized her motivation stems from personal goals and self-belief. She is also engaged to her boyfriend, Andrea Preti, and is competing in doubles at the Washington Open.
