💨 Abstract

Around 5.1 million people aged 16 and over in England and Wales have experienced domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking, with women being the majority of victims. Despite government promises to reduce these crimes, the figures remain high. Experts argue that the actual numbers may be higher due to underreporting. The government is taking steps to address this issue, including combining reports of these crimes and investing in new programs.
