💨 Abstract
Martin Lewis explains why savings interest can seem lower than expected. Interest is accrued daily based on the balance, not the total deposited annually. For instance, saving £300 monthly at 7% yields around £139 in interest, not £252, as the average balance is about half the yearly total. Despite this, regular savings accounts still offer competitive rates.
