💨 Abstract

The article discusses the challenges faced by disabled individuals like Keighley Miles and Holly Donovan in finding and maintaining employment. Keighley, who is deaf, and Holly, who uses a wheelchair, both struggled with inadequate support and opportunities. The disability employment gap in the UK remains around 30%, persistence for three decades, due to systemic, structural, and cultural barriers. While initiatives like Access to Work and the Disability Confident scheme exist, their effectiveness is questioned.
