💨 Abstract
An eight-month-old boy named Conor O'Rourke was diagnosed with vein of galen malformation (VOGM), a rare brain condition affecting one in a million children. Conor underwent three operations in 2023, but his veins became blocked, making him "untreatable." Doctors at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital developed a new surgical technique to access the malformation, performing open surgery through the skull.
