💨 Abstract
The author shares an experience where a local resident, Raghu, expresses frustration over tourists photographing his slum home in Mumbai's Dharavi. This encounter made the author reflect on the ethics of slum tours. Previously, the author had participated in similar tours in Johannesburg and considered visiting favelas in Rio de Janeiro but changed their mind. The author argues that slum tours often exploits residents and reinforces inequalities.
