💨 Abstract
Rachael Smith, 40, and her partner Euan, 47, transitioned from traditional London renting to living on a boat. They first rented a mooring in Bermondsey before buying a second-hand 100+-year-old barge for £125,000. Unable to secure a conventional mortgage, they opted for a private mortgage with the previous owner and took on a tenant to help with monthly costs.
