💨 Abstract
In Fort Collins, Colorado, rabbits with black, horn-like tendrils on their faces have been spotted, causing concern among locals. The bunnies are infected with the cottontail rabbit papilloma virus, which leads to benign tumors but can sometimes cause skin cancer. State wildlife officials advise against touching these rabbits, as the virus can occasionally spread to domestic rabbits. This condition, historically known as "jackalopes," is caused by the virus and is spread by mosquitoes and ticks.
