💨 Abstract
The author, Dwayne Fields, recounts his journey from a curious child in Jamaica to a pioneer Black explorer. Growing up, he was discouraged from outdoor adventures. After moving to the UK, he felt lonely and out of place. A near-miss with a gunman led him to seek true happiness, reconnecting with his love for adventure. He became the first Black British man to reach the North Pole and founded the We2 Foundation to inspire others.
