💨 Abstract
Keira Borrett, a 46-year-old trans woman, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for smuggling 26kg of cannabis into the UK from Thailand. Borrett admitted to transporting the drugs for £10,000 to pay for gender-affirming surgery. The judge noted Borrett's difficult prison conditions as she was housed in a male prison but emphasized the need to deter drug smuggling operations targeting the UK.
