šØ Abstract
A British backpacker, Calum Macdonald, lost his vision after consuming tainted alcohol at a hostel in Laos. In November 2022, Calum and six other tourists died due to methanol poisoning from free shots of vodka and whiskey. Calum continued traveling until he reached the Vietnamese border, where he realized he had gone blind. Authorities confirmed the alcohol was laced with methanol, a toxic substance. Several tourists, including Brit Simone White, did not survive.
