💨 Abstract
Skye Owen, a 23-year-old from Cornwall, initially dismissed her severe back and hip pain as a sports injury, but it was later diagnosed as sepsis—a life-threatening condition. Despite multiple medical visits, her symptoms were misattributed to sciatica. Only after her parents intervened and she developed a fever was septic arthritis and sepsis identified. Skye underwent surgery and antibiotics, but her recovery remains ongoing, with lingering nerve damage.
