💨 Abstract
King Charles will unveil the UK’s first national memorial for LGBT armed forces personnel at the National Memorial Arboretum, honoring those affected by the military’s former ban on gay and transgender service members. The bronze sculpture, made from words of impacted veterans, commemorates the thousands dismissed or mistreated under the policy (1967–2000). The King will meet veterans like Claire Ashton and Sharon Pickering, who faced lifelong consequences.
