💨 Abstract

The author recounts her harrowing experience with medical dismissal, particularly as a Black woman. After months of severe pain, bloating, and fatigue, she was repeatedly ignored by GPs and an A&E doctor, who refused to examine her. Only when her white male fiancé accompanied her did she receive basic tests. Frustrated, she sought private healthcare and was diagnosed with a uterine issue.
