💨 Abstract

Carlos Manzo, the mayor of Uruapan in Michoacán, Mexico, was shot dead during a Day of the Dead celebration. He was an outspoken critic of organized crime and had previously expressed fears for his safety. Three suspects were identified, with two arrested and one killed. President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the attack, vowing justice. Manzo’s wife praised his courage, while tensions flared at his funeral. The US ambassador pledged support to combat organized crime.
