💨 Abstract

After winning an Oscar for her role in "12 Years a Slave," Lupita Nyong'o was surprised to receive numerous offers to play slaves in other films. She chose to decline these roles to avoid perpetuating stereotypes about African people. Nyong'o, along with other Black actors like Will Smith and the late Chadwick Boseman, has prioritized portraying characters that showcase strength and positive representation.
