💨 Abstract

NASA's Perseverance rover detected electrical discharges, or "little zaps," in Mars' atmosphere, similar to static electricity. These discharges, found using the rover's SuperCam, could affect future missions and human exploration. Scientists believe dust storms and "dust devils" might generate this activity. The discovery, made by a microphone, suggests these electrical events occur frequently on Mars. Perseverance continues to search for signs of ancient life while collecting rock samples.
