💨 Abstract

Catie Fenner's mother, Alison, diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, decided to end her life in Switzerland to avoid a prolonged, debilitating decline. Alison's decision left Catie and her family in a difficult position, as assisted suicide is illegal in the UK. They had to keep the decision secret to avoid legal repercussions, causing Catie immense stress and isolation. Alison's final days were marked by secrecy and the need to deceive friends and colleagues.
