💨 Abstract

Due to operational constraints, a fast train service from Manchester to London will run empty for the next six months. The 7am Avanti West Coast departure will carry only staff, with up to 100 services potentially running without passengers. The decision by the rail regulator aims to improve service flexibility and recovery, but passengers and experts question the cost-effectiveness. The Office for Road and Rail (ORR) stated that the total number of services to the North West will increase under the new schedule.
