💨 Abstract

Around 90 municipalities in northeastern Spain are quarantined due to an outbreak of African swine fever in pigs, with 13 cases confirmed in wild boars. The outbreak is suspected to have originated from a laboratory leak at the Research Centre on Animal Health (CReSA) in Bellaterra. The disease, which is highly contagious and fatal in its severe form, does not affect humans.
