💨 Abstract

Tens of thousands of doctors in the UK will proceed with a five-day strike from December 17 to 22, as their union, the British Medical Association (BMA), rejected a government offer. The BMA claims that resident doctors' pay has decreased by 20% since 2008 when adjusted for inflation. The Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, criticized the strike as "irresponsible and dangerous," citing winter pressures on the NHS.
