💨 Abstract

An Islamist double murderer, Fuad Awale, was awarded £7,500 and had his £234,000 legal fees covered by taxpayers after winning a case over his prison rights. The High Court ruled that Awale's human rights were breached when he was kept in solitary confinement for over a year. Awale is serving life for murdering two teenagers and additional time for taking a prison officer hostage.
