💨 Abstract
Former prison officers have described an "epidemic" of inappropriate relationships between staff and inmates, which they say is often overlooked due to its awkward nature. Two women were recently jailed for such relationships. Former guards Sam Samworth and Alex South highlighted the issue, attributing it to budget cuts and a lack of supervision. They noted that prisons have become more dangerous and less disciplined over time, with inmates spending excessive hours in their cells.
