💨 Abstract
A British couple, Karen and Bill Newton, were detained by ICE during a U.S. road trip in 2019. Karen, despite having a valid tourist visa, was held for six weeks due to her husband's past U.S. work permit status. They were offered voluntary return to the UK with a 10-year U.S. entry ban, which they accepted. Karen was detained in harsh conditions, separated from her husband, and not allowed to contact her son.
