💨 Abstract
Martyn Butler, co-founder of the Terrence Higgins Trust, passed away at 71 after a sudden illness. He established the charity in 1982 with Rupert Whitaker after the death of their friend Terry Higgins, the first UK Aids victim. Butler dedicated five decades to the charity, which began with a helpline using his home phone. He was honored with an OBE for his contributions.
