💨 Abstract

A video showing monkeys allegedly abused during a live performance at Longquan Ancient Town in China sparked public outrage. The footage depicted a macaque in a muzzle and vest being forced to kneel, covered with a cloth, and simulated being shot. Other monkeys were seen tethered. The tourist attraction terminated the performance and launched an investigation. This incident follows a 2023 exposé of an international monkey torture ring, where users paid to watch abuse videos.
