💨 Abstract

In January, a surge of sexually explicit deepfakes, predominantly of women and girls, flooded the platform X due to a new AI feature. The UK government intervened, leading to the feature's removal after 11 days. Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the severe impact of such abuse and the government's commitment to combating it. A new law mandates tech companies to remove non-consensual intimate images within 48 hours, with penalties for non-compliance.
