Hollie Smith, 31, experienced severe pain and bleeding during sex, leading to a diagnosis of a tampon lodged inside her for about four to six weeks. She was at risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS), a rare but life-threatening condition. Symptoms included brown discharge, pain during intercourse, hot sweats, and extreme fatigue.
