💨 Abstract

In 2016, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite highlighted the lack of diversity in Oscar nominations, sparked by journalist April Reign. This movement followed two years of all-white acting nominees, despite acclaimed films featuring Black talent being overlooked. The outcry led the Academy to commit to doubling its women and ethnic minority members by 2020.
