💨 Abstract
Starting today, banks in Britain can set their own higher contactless card payment limits, though major banks will initially keep the £100 limit. Many banks allow customers to set their own lower limits via apps. Contactless payments have surged, with 94.6% of eligible in-store card transactions being contactless in 2024. Banks like NatWest, Santander, and Barclays have no immediate plans to change their limits but will review them.
