💨 Abstract
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope serendipitously captured a comet disintegrating, an event scientists rarely witness. The comet, C/2025 K1 (ATLAS), broke into at least four pieces, observed between November 8 and 10. The breakup occurred shortly after the comet's closest approach to the Sun. Hubble's high resolution revealed individual fragments, each with a glowing cloud of gas and dust.
