💨 Abstract

Scientists in China have created a wearable robot that adds two mechanical legs to a human, forming a 'bionic centaur.' This system, developed by the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, helps users carry heavy loads by sharing the weight and assisting in forward motion. The robot adapts to the user's walking speed and direction, reducing metabolic energy use by about 35% and foot pressure by 52% when carrying a 44lb load.
