💨 Abstract

A study published in Environmental Pollution found that sharks in the Caribbean Sea tested positive for various drugs, including cocaine, likely due to human activities. Nearly 30 sharks from three species showed traces of caffeine, acetaminophen, diclofenac, and cocaine. The drugs may have entered their systems through sewage or direct contact with tourists. The impact on shark behavior is uncertain, but research suggests caffeine could increase their energy and focus.
