💨 Abstract
A study found that over half of adult social care staff in England start caring for dementia patients without any specific training. The Alzheimer’s Society, which conducted the research, is pushing for mandatory dementia training, noting that many training programs are inadequate. Only 47% of staff received dementia training during induction, and most training was insufficient. The society warns that inadequate training can lead to poor care for the approximately one million people with dementia in the UK.
