💨 Abstract
The author recounts her journey of reporting a sexual assault that occurred over a decade ago. After initially suppressing her memories and shame, she was encouraged by a friend to report the assault to the police. Despite her fears of not being believed, she went through the reporting process, which included detailed interviews and investigations. After a lengthy wait, the perpetrator was charged and the case went to trial. However, he was ultimately found not guilty, leaving the author feeling re-traumatized.
