💨 Abstract

A gunman, identified as Nasire Best, opened fire at a White House security checkpoint on Saturday evening. Secret Service agents responded, killing the shooter. A bystander was injured, but no agents were harmed. Best had a history of violent behavior and had previously attempted to enter the White House. The president was present but unharmed. Journalists on site were evacuated to a briefing room. The incident occurred just a month after another shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
