💨 Abstract

Alpha-gal syndrome, a meat allergy triggered by tick bites, is increasing. It causes reactions to mammalian meat and dairy but not poultry or seafood. Symptoms can appear hours after consumption. The allergy is linked to various tick species, including those in the UK.
