💨 Abstract
London may experience a 'polar vortex' this winter due to a strong El Niño effect, which could disrupt Arctic winds and push cold air southwards, potentially bringing heavy snow and flooding. The Met Office warns of a subtle shift towards colder, windier weather, though it's not certain. Globally, El Niño could cause over 450,000 heat deaths by early 2027 and has already influenced record-breaking temperatures.
